When Paul Zambrotta ’78MBA attended St. John’s University’s
Queens campus in the late 70s, it was ranked one of the most
state-of-the-art universities in all of New York City:
“St. John’s was at the forefront of technology when I was enrolled
in the College of Business’ MBA program. Because I was exposed to
such advanced technology while in graduate school, I was one of the
first people to use computers in the New York office of
PriceWaterHouseCoopers,” recounts Paul.
With over 25 years of experience working in several of the world's
largest public and private companies, Paul is now a chief financial
officer and accountant for B2B CFO – a consulting firm that
provides businesses with senior level chief financial officer
advice and business solutions.
Paul attributes his professional success to his education from St.
John’s Peter J. Tobin College of Business, “The MBA program taught
me, most importantly, how to implement technology when dealing with
clients. It was also a huge benefit to have professors who were not
just educators, but were also working as consultants in the
industry.”
In addition to knowledgeable professors and a convenient campus
location, Paul says the flexible class times offered through the
night program made it the perfect place to earn his graduate
degree, “It was important that I was able to work while going to
school, so the accessibility of the night program was ideal because
I was able to work during the day and go to school at night.”
Paul completed the MBA with a concentration in accounting, which he
believes laid the foundation for a successful career in the
financial industry, “After I graduated from the MBA program I
immediately got a position at a fortune 500 company. My MBA degree
from St. John’s gave me the credentials to qualify for such a
high-level position.”
The challenging and engaging coursework along with the expertise of
the professors gave Paul the foundation he needed to rise through
the ranks at PriceWaterHouseCoopers and become an authority on
business solutions which he employs through his consulting.
“My advice to anyone interested in pursuing an MBA is to take full
advantage of every learning opportunity. Learning from books is
completely different from learning from real world experience. The
College of Business exposes you to both.”
