Julia Egorova, even by the age of eleven, had had one of the
most exciting lives an average American could imagine. She
came to the United States directly from St. Petersburg, Russia,
spoke no English, and progressed in the space of less than three
years from English as a Second Language student, to advanced high
school placement. She is presently a scholarship student in the
University Honors Program who speaks English like a native.
Business has always been Julia’s calling. She joined the
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) in the ninth grade, and
through that organization won numerous awards at both the state and
national levels. Is it any wonder, then, that Julia is presently
majoring in finance in the Tobin College of Business?
Julia’s fascination with business has not lessened her
commitment to service. She has participated in the PLUNGE in New
Orleans and is an active member of LEAD. Business has not
precluded Julia’s interest in the liberal arts, either. She is
working on a minor in French to add to her bilingual ability in
English and Russian. She has done all this while working in
retailing.
It is hard to imagine an employer who could fail to be impressed
by Julia’s industry and intellect. She graduated in the top three
percent of her high school class with special recognition in
mathematics, science, languages, and of course business. She has
had internship experience at the Securities Industry and Financial
Markets Association in Manhattan, and she remains among the most
popular members of the Honors Program.
Julia hails from a multicultural family. Her stepfather is
from India; as a result, she has visited India and knows Eastern as
well as Western culture. Even this accident of family background
seems to have set Julia on the road to the global business
environment in which she will no doubt continue to accomplish great
things.
