You’re on the Verge of Something
Great
We’re thrilled that you’re considering studying abroad with St.
John’s. Please read the instructions below carefully, but contact
us if you have any questions.
Application Instructions
General Information
Semester Program Deadlines
Although we review applications for our semester programs on a
rolling basis, we encourage students to apply as early as possible
to increase their chances of attending their first choice program.
Programs can fill early! For example, we’ve found that spring
programs tend to fill by the beginning of October. However, we will
continue to accept applications as long as space is available. Once
you are accepted, in order to secure your place in the program, you
will need to submit a $250 non-refundable deposit.
Short-Term Program
Deadlines
- Winter Programs: Applications must be received
by November 14; deposits by November 15
- May and June Programs: Applications must be
received by March 23; deposits by March 30
- July and August Programs: Applications must be
received by April 20; deposits by April 27
For most programs,
you must complete at least one year of full-time undergraduate
study and have a minimum 2.75 cumulative index to apply. However
freshmen can attend the
Global Passport program and our winter
programs.
NOTE: Students who
will not have reached the age of 18 by the time of the beginning of
their study abroad semester must secure and provide parental
permission.
St. John’s
Undergraduate Students
Applying is easy! Just follow these steps:
- Log on to St. John’s
Central to fill out the online study abroad application. Click
on the UIS tab; choose “Student,” then “Admissions,” and finally
“Global Studies Application.”
- Follow the instructions provided in UIS, including selecting
your courses for study abroad.
St. John’s
Graduate Students
Due to limitations with UIS, graduate students must use our
paper application. To apply, print the
Application PDF and Course
Option form, complete both, and submit them to the Office of
Global Studies. The Course Option form should be signed by
your dean or academic advisor to ensure that you will receive
credit toward your course of study.
Application Decisions
Submitted applications are subject to approval by the student's
dean/academic advisor and the St. John's Office of Judicial
Affairs. Decisions are usually made within 2-3 weeks of
application. Students will be notified of application decisions by
email.
