This year, for the first time, the Office of Global Studies will
be presenting International Education Week as a cooperative effort
with the Office of Multicultural Affairs' Diversity Week
programming. Together, these two celebrations of global travel,
interculturural exploration and diverse educational advancement
represent the concerted efforts at St. John's University to reflect
the increasing importance of global communication and understanding
in today's world.

new students?” In this session, Sr. Annelle Fitzpatrick, CSJ,
Ph.D., will give a brief overview of some of the “Cultural Clues”
that students often wear which reveal much about their religious
and cultural background. It is hoped that by learning to identify
some of these cultural clues (i.e. hijab, kufi, kirpan, dastar,
tzitzit, dupatta, etc.) both faculty and staff might be able to
anticipate the social and religious concerns of these students and
make them feel more at home on the campus of St. John’s University.
Dinner with cultural cuisines will be served after the training.
