The Reference Department’s mission is to support teaching,
learning and research at St. John’s University through its
information and referral services and one on one library
instruction to patrons—both in person and via electronic venues.
Reference librarians promote lifelong learning and information
literacy through consultation with and instruction of
students, faculty, administrators and staff of the University as
well as visitors to the Library.
The Department collections include dictionaries,
encyclopedias, almanacs, yearbooks, indexes and abstracts,
factbooks, statistical sources, and other reference works in print
and online.
