Center for International and Comparative Law Hosts New York Research Roundtable

On September 9, 2011, the St. John’s Center for International and Comparative Law (CICL) hosted the New York Research Roundtable at the St. John’s Manhattan campus. CICL co-directors Peggy McGuinness and Chris Borgen organized the roundtable, which brought together international law scholars from around the New York area to discuss six works-in-progress. 

  • Kristen Boon (Seton Hall Law), The High Seas Fisheries: A Case Study in Scarcity and Redistribution in International Law
  • Adil Haque (Rutgers Law), Killing in the Fog of War
  • Claire Kelly (Brooklyn Law), Breaking the Frame Between Public International Trade and Private International Business
  • Peggy McGuinness (St. John’s Law), Congressional Human Rights Policy: An Empirical Examination of Legal and Normative Effects
  • Barbara Stark (Hofstra Law), International Law from the Bottom-Up: Fragmentation and Transformation
  • Jennifer Trahan (NYU), The Blank Prose Crime of Aggression

Other St. John’s School of Law participants included Professor Mark Movsesian and Assistant Dean Jeff Walker. Professors John Dehn (U.S. Military Academy), Alexander Greenawalt (Pace Law), and Mark Shulman (Pace Law) served as commentators.

This inaugural workshop focused on papers in public international law. Future CICL New York Research Roundtables will also workshop papers in comparative law and private international law.
