George J. Mitchell Scholarship

Award

Qualifications
Applicants for the George J. Mitchell Scholarship are judged on three criteria:

  • Academic excellence and intellectual distinction. Although the Scholarship program does not have a minimum GPA, it is understood that a prospective candidate must have the academic ability and preparation to succeed in a postgraduate program
  • An outstanding record of leadership
  • A sustained commitment to service and community

History
The Mitchell Scholars Program is a national competitive fellowship sponsored by the US-Ireland Alliance. The Mitchell Scholars Program, named to honor former US Senator George Mitchell’s pivotal contribution to the Northern Ireland peace process, is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of commitment to public service and community.
