What
St. John's University Committee on Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) will host the Consul General of Mexico in New York Arturo Sarukhan, in an event entitled "Mexico Today: A View Towards 2006."

A career diplomat, Consul Sarukhan joined the Mexican Foreign Service in 1994.  In 1998 he was commissioned to Mexico City as an Advisor to the Secretary for North American and Organized Crime issues and as Deputy Director for Policy Planning at the Ministry. In December of 2000, he was appointed Chief of Staff for Policy Planning to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs.  He is a member of various organizations, including The Mexican Council for International Affairs, The International Institute for Strategic Studies of London and The Task Force for Inter-American Security of the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington D.C.
