Presentation Format of Events
 Categories of events include:

  1. Poster Presentations: Thursday, April 12, 2012
Taffner Field House, noon to 3 p.m.

The Poster session emphasizes the process underlying the research presented. (What was the research question or problem; how did you gather and interpret information; and what are the conclusions). Tips on delevoping a poster are available at: http://cgi.stanford.edu/~dept-ctl/tomprof/posting.php?ID=1136

    Specifics
-The presenter should provide their own self-standing board, and will be assigned a
spot on a table or raised platform on which to display it and any models.
-The researcher should be on hand during the time that their work is on display to
describe their work and answer any questions about it.
-Student set-up is between 10:30-11:30 a.m. Students must be assembled, ready to present
      no later than 11:45 a.m.

    D'Angelo Center, Seminar Rooms: 212, 301, 311, 312, 401
    Noon to 4:30 p.m.

For the oral presentations, a student will deliver a reading of a research paper or a visual presentation. This format is the traditional one for most academic conferences and/or business settings.[Today, there is often the expectation that the paper will be published prior to or at the beginning of a conference, allowing for more intense dialogue.] Therefore in the interest of professionalism, there will be a short Q&A where students should prepare to answer informed queries.

    Specifics
-Students should prepare for a 10 minute lecture followed by questions and answers
-Students should bring a flash drive for any visual items they wish to display on screen.
-They should not rely on emailed work.
-The schedule for oral work will be staggered at 15-20 minute intervals. Students will
receive information about their room number and time.

    Props may be used
-PowerPoint, other IT aids (software or devices)
    -Technical Models
-Dramatic Props (to prove a point)

Students should contact Dr. Alison Hyslop (hyslopa@stjohns.edu) or Professor Lawrence Pitilli (pitillil@stjohns.edu) for more information.

The layout resembles a Roundtable discussion. Presenters comment and interact with one another as a panel with the audience around them to ask questions during the question and answers session. This event is moderated. Faculty mentors are encouraged to be part of the Panel as well.
