Presidential Summit 2008: Understanding the Millennial Generation and How We Must Serve Them

Welcome to the Provost’s Page on the 2008 Presidential Summit “The Millennial Student”. On these pages are featured live footage and prominent features from the event. The tools on this page are designed to help us as faculty and administrators decide “How we wish to serve” this “Millennial Generation” in the wake of the academic insight and student-feedback provided by the Presidential Summit. The four-hour Presidential Summit concluded with a lively panel discussion with the “The Millennials” themselves serving as experts on the subject matter. Six current St. John’s students spoke candidly about their experiences at the University and what is most important to them. They also took questions from the audience as the day ended on a high note with constructive dialogue and interaction among all participants.

Our post-summit direction as the leaders of the University’s academia is to plan a course of action in response to the knowledge we have acquired.

“This can be a transformational moment in the history of our University and I pose to all faculty, administrators and staff that the greatest challenge facing us right now is addressing the needs of our students, but before we can answer the question – we have to know who they (the students) are. The first step begins today.”
