Dr. Carrington received a combined baccalaureate/master's degree
from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and his doctorate from
Rutgers University. He has been teaching at St. John's since Fall
1999. He previously taught criminal justice, sociology, research
methods, statistics and public administration courses at John Jay
College and Rutgers University.During his time at St John's, Dr.
Carrington has taught several criminal justice courses, including
Professional Ethics in the Criminal Justice System, Crime and the
Criminal, Criminal Investigation, and The Police and the Community.
In Spring 2000, Dr. Carrington began teaching online
courses.
His main research interests are in the
areas of the influence of race in the criminal justice system, the
exercise of discretion, police and community relations, and
civilian complaints against the police.
