Prof. Gerstner has been teaching economics at St. John's since 1989. He previously taught banking & finance at Hofstra University and the New York Institute of Technology. During his time at St. John's, Prof. Gerstner has taught a variety of courses, including financial management, money and banking, and economic history. He recently developed a new course, "The Economics of Sports," which debuted during the Spring, 1999 semester. It has proved to be a popular addition to the Sports Management curriculum at both the Jamaica and Staten Island campuses. His current research interests are in the areas of public finance, economic education, and the economics of professional sports.
