Multicultural Affairs - Latino Heritage Fashion Influence - Queens Campus

September 20, 2012 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
DAC Rm. 128, Queens Campus

Nothing in fashion is ever really new. This presentation will cover the influence of the Mayan, Incan, and Aztec civilizations that once populated what is today known as Latin America, on the recycled designs of the world of fashion. It will showcase not only their influence on the wardrobes of Latin American countries today, but also their influence in modern day design, such as that seen in the 2013 Berlin Spring/Summer Fashion Week (July 2012). From the bright colors to the detailed designs that once represented a level of wealth, the multi-million dollar fashion industry has taken their inspiration by traveling through time, bringing us many of the items that are most popular in our outfits today.
