St.
John’s School of Education will honor five alumni who work in the
field of education at its 7th Annual Leaders in
Education Awards Dinner (L.E.A.D.) on Tuesday, March
27th, 2012 at the University’s Queens Campus.
The
School of Education has developed as one of the premiere teacher
preparation programs in the country, and is nationally accredited
by the Teacher Education Accreditation Counsel. Recognized as a
leader in higher education, St. John’s is ranked in the top 100
among graduate schools of Education by US News and World
Report.
In an effort to honor those who have accomplished so much in the
field of education, St. John’s University launched the Leaders in
Education Awards Dinner in 2005. The award honors those
educators who have excelled in their craft.
This
year, the University honors: Dorothea Y. Breen ‘89SVC,
‘99GEd, Principal, Immaculate Conception School;
Thomas Chadzutko, Ed.D, Superintendent of Schools,
Diocese of Brooklyn; Giovanni Durante ‘05Ed.D,
Principal, Syosset High School; Mary Ellen Minogue ’78Ed,
‘81GEd, Teacher/English Chairperson, Sacred Heart Academy
and Suzanne A. Viscovich ‘93GEd, ‘01Ed.D,
Principal, Homestead School.
