Rachel Zufferey, Ph.D., an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, completed her doctorate at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. She subsequently pursued postdoctoral training in Parasitology at the Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Zufferey’s research focuses on the characterization of the enzymatic machinery involved in the biosynthesis of glycerolipids in Leishmania and trypanosomes, and in the identification of suitable targets for rational drug design. Prior to joining St. John’s in January 2009, she was an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at Kansas State University and a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut Health Center.
