Profile
Dr. Misevich is a proud and enthusiastic graduate of St. John’s University (BA, 2002) and is thrilled to be back as a faculty member in the history department.  He specializes in the slave trade and the development of the Atlantic World.  Dr. Misevich’s teaching interests include Caribbean history, Atlantic history and African history.  A recipient of grants from the National Endowment of the Humanities, Fulbright-Hays and the Bill and Carol Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry at Emory University, Misevich’s research focuses on the coerced migration of Africans across the 19th-century world.  He is co-Principal Investigator of the Origins database project (online at www.african-origins.com) and actively works with a team of scholars on a project that details the movement of 35,000 slave vessels (www.slavevoyages.org).  His work has been published in the Journal of Social History, The Journal of Colonialism and Colonial History, and as chapters in several edited volumes.
