Elizabeth Reilly to Serve as Director of
Media Relations
St.
John’s University and the Office of the President has announced the
appointment of Dominic Scianna to Associate Vice President for
External Relations, and has named Elizabeth Reilly the new Director
of Media Relations, effective immediately.
Scianna, 52, will direct the Division of External Relations which
includes the offices of Community Relations, Government Relations
and Media Relations. He begins his 16th year at St. John’s after
serving the University as Director of Athletic Communications,
Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs and Director of
Media Relations.
“Our division directors, along with the support and resources from
senior management, have developed a new strategic model in external
relations. It will reflect the university’s mission of service to
the community, cultivate positive press in the media and engage
government partners in higher education issues that are important
to St. John’s,” said Scianna. “We have a solid foundation in these
key areas to reach measurable and attainable goals on behalf of the
university.”
Reilly, who earned her Bachelor’s degree at St. John’s and her MBA
at Iona College, will manage the day to day media operations for
the University. She begins her ninth year after serving for two
years as Assistant Director of Sports Information and the past six
years as Associate Director of Media Relations.
The Division of External Relations reports to and was developed by
Robert D. Wile, Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff to the
President.
The Division is complimented by Joseph Sciame, Vice President for
Community Relations, who has been a staple of St. John’s for more
than 50 years. He is a graduate of St. John’s and has also served
as Vice President and Director of Financial Aid. Brian Browne,
Assistant Vice President for Government Relations and a St. John’s
double alumnus, rounds out this experienced staff of professionals
and is a 15-year veteran at St. John’s. He previously served as
Director of the Oakdale and Manhattan campuses of the
University.
