Hosted by the Albany and Mid-Hudson Valley Alumni
Chapters, the Saratoga Day at the Races proved to be an enjoyable
afternoon of good friends, good food and exciting thoroughbred
racing. Alumni and friends gathered at a special area inside the
clubhouse – the At the Rail Pavilion – for a trackside view of the
action and a brunch buffet.
“You can’t ask for more than a great day of racing, delicious food
and an air-conditioned tent,” said Joe Fallacaro ’88CBA. “And you
can’t forget about the friendly interaction with fellow alumni,
which is arguably the best part of the event. It’s really been a
great time.”
Bill Schaeffer ’73CBA, Director of University Relations and Susan
Damiani ’87CBA, Director of Gift Planning, served as the hosts for
the afternoon. And with sunny skies and warm temperatures, the day
couldn’t have been more perfect for alumni and their
families.
“I’ve been coming to this event every year and I always bring my
family members with me,” said John Neary ’61CBA. “We all have fun
here because it’s such a great atmosphere. And, of course, we have
a blast meeting the other alumni.”
Throughout the afternoon, guests placed bets on their favorite
horses. But whether they won or lost, most agreed that the event’s
highlight was reminiscing with old friends.
“I was really struck by the warmth shown by all the other alumni,”
noted Emett Agoglia ’58L. “It’s been great to catch up with them,
so I’d definitely say that this has been a success. I’m already
looking forward to next year’s event!”
