Dr. Shao received his Ph.D. of Pharmaceutics from West Virginia
University. He also holds M.S. of Biopharmaceutics from China
Pharmaceutical University, and B.S. of Pharmacy from Zhejiang
University. After graduating from West Virginia University, Dr.
Shao took a postdoctoral position in Clinical Pharmacokinetics
Department of Janssen Research Foundation, Johnson & Johnson.
He joined Department of Pharmacy & Administrative Sciences,
College of Pharmacy & Allied Health Professions, St. John's
University as an assistant professor in September 1999. He was
promoted to tenured associate professor in 2004. He has received
twice Faculty Recognition Award from the Dean of the college. Dr.
Shao has experienced in various pharmaceutical research areas
including solid dosage forms, pharmacokinetics and
bioavailabilities, targeting drug delivery systems, cancer
research, traditional Chinese medicines, etc. His research
activities are usually infused with innovative ideas from
inter-discipline approach. While he was a Ph.D. graduate student,
he received several research excellence awards from American
Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS). Since his joining
with St. John's University, he established Biotechnology & Drug
Delivery Laboratory, where he and his graduate students have been
conducting various research projects which have led to about 20
publications in peer-reviewed journals and one patent of
nano-technology in the past 10 years. Dr. Shao is also very
experienced in new drug development process, drug regulations and
clinical trials.
