All screening exams for our paramedic original class must be
pre-scheduled by appointment only; we do not allow walk-in
screenings. Only a current NYS EMT will be able to take the
multiple choice Reading Comprehension and Math screening exam.
The cost of the Screening Exam is $100.00 USD, non-refundable
payable by money order made out to St. John’s University. You must
bring your driver’s license and your valid NYS EMT card with you.
The screening fee is separate from the tuition.
Once the written exam is complete, there will be a scheduled
oral interview. Upon successful completion of both portions of the
exam, the student must undergo a criminal background and 10 panel
urine drug test. The fee for this is $105.00 USD. This information
will be provided to the student upon successful completion of the
written and oral component of the screening exam. The student will
then be notified in writing, by mail and or phone if they are
accepted into the program.
