The journalism program requires extensive
course work in the liberal arts, and students are encouraged to
include additional liberal arts courses among their free electives.
Students may minor in any program offered at St. John’s University,
including language and literature, the physical and social sciences
and the arts. Of special interest to journalism majors are programs
in advertising, television studies, media management, finance and
international studies. It is possible to take more than one
minor to complement your journalism major.
Core Curriculum
This baccalaureate degree utilizes the University's Common
and Distributed Core Curriculum for satisfying 48 credits of the
