An Informal Discussion on Can There Be the Rule of Law in the Age of Terrorism?: Torture, Rights, and National Security

February 22, 2005

An informal discussion with Professor Christopher Borgen, Professor Robert Vischer and Professor Timothy Zick

Is the “War on Terrorism” really a war?   What is the balance between executive power and individual rights in the midst of this conflict? Can torture ever be justified in the pursuit of national security?  If so, under what circumstances?  Or should we not even try to justify torture?  Join members of the St. John’s faculty for an informal discussion of the legal issues framing the “torture debate.”
