African Heritage Month 2005 - The Evolution of the Black Mind: From Education to Action presents a lecture with

Dr. James Cone

A Distinguished Professor of Systematic Theology at Union Theological Seminary, Dr. James Cone is regarded as one of the world's leading authorities on race and religion. In writing the seminal text A Black Theology of Liberation, he revolutionized the study of theology and our understanding of Christianity. Thirty-five years later, he continues to challenge us intellectually and spiritually. Sponsored by Haraya and Alpha Kappa Delta, Dr. Cone's lecture "The Challenge of Race" will examine the concept of silence largely as it pertains to the white community's failure to adequately address racism and oppression individually and collectively.
