Dean
Michael A. Simons is pleased to announce that Martin Cerjan has
joined the Law School faculty as Associate Dean for Library and
Technology Services and Associate Professor of Legal
Research.
Dean Cerjan brings a wealth of experience in law library
leadership. For the past eight years, he has been Assistant
Dean, Law Library Director, and Assistant Professor of Law at
Vanderbilt University Law School. Before joining the
Vanderbilt law faculty, Professor Cerjan was deputy director of the
Garbrecht Law Library at the University of Maine School of Law. He
also has held law librarian positions at the University of
Washington and the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill.
“We are thrilled that Martin has joined the Law School family,”
Dean Simons said. “Our students and faculty will benefit from his
range of knowledge and longtime work in the field. The Rittenberg Library is a
pillar of the school and his leadership will solidify its place
here.”
“Martin will help us take another step in our growth as a scholarly
institution,” said Associate Dean for Faculty Scholarship
Paul Kirgis. “He has a deep understanding of the legal
academy and the role a law library can play in its
development.”
Dean Cerjan is excited to come on board. “I am delighted to be
joining the St. John's community,” he said. “These are challenging
but exciting times to be a law librarian and I am eager to help
build upon the strengths of the Rittenberg Law Library. St. John's
is dedicated to quality education, rigorous scholarship, and good
works. I could not ask for more.”
Dean Cerjan received his J.D. and M.S.L.S. from the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his B.A. from the University of
Michigan.
