Policy on Discounted Student Registration in CPE Courses

Enrollment in Actuarial Review Courses, Professional Designation Review Courses and selected other programs is offered at a 50% rate for matriculated St. John's University students through the Center for Professional Education to support their professional development and help to cover the cost of enrollment within the following parameters:

1.Use of the discounted rate is available to students matriculated in either the graduate or undergraduate programs of the University. School of Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science students will be afforded first preference in instances where a course may close.

2.The discounted rate is primarily used to support enrollment in Actuarial Review courses or professional designation prep courses, principally those preparing for CPCU, ARM, ARe, or AMIM.

3.To obtain their Academic Advisor's approval for registration and employ the discounted rate, the applying student must be in good academic standing AND must have received a grade of "B" or better in all courses in their major as well as in the courses that are applicable to their VEE credit (Finance, Economics) where these apply.

4.To obtain the Advisor's approval and the discount, the applying student, when seeking approval for a second or subsequent review course in the CPE, must produce evidence of passing the exam relative to their last course enrollment.

5.To enroll, the applying student will obtain their Academic Advisor’s approval, register and make payment for the discounted rate at least one week in advance of the start date of the course.  Registered students are subject to the Refund Policy of the Center for Professional Education with regard to withdrawals:

“If you are unable to attend a course following registration, the Center will deduct a $35 administration fee, after which the following refund schedule applies.  If you cancel, in writing:

Up until the course’s start date: 100% (- $35 fee)
Between the first and second class sessions: 75% (- $35 fee)
There are no refunds after the second class session.”

Registrants will also benefit from the Center’s policy that permits students who do not pass an exam to re-take the pertinent course free of tuition charges within two months of the course’s end, provided that the student attended at least 80% of the classes comprising the course and remains eligible for approval as per #3 above.
