The globalization of economic enterprise and the complexities of
our multinational corporate environment are creating an increasing
demand for highly skilled risk managers.
In particular, professionals who specialize in assessing risks
for insurance and other financial services will be needed to
evaluate global transactions, manage capital and handle mergers and
acquisitions. The Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts an 8
percent growth in risk manager jobs by 2018.
You can prepare for these opportunities through the Bachelor of
Science in Risk Management and Insurance at St. John’s University.
Offered by The Peter J. Tobin College of
Business, the 130-credit degree program teaches students to
manage the financial consequences of risk, ensuring that firms
realize their risk targets. This includes understanding such
concepts and tools as risk analysis and transfer/financing.
Emphasis is also placed on developing outstanding communications
skills, necessary for achieving success in today’s competitive
business environment.
This cutting-edge program is fully accredited by the prestigious
Association to Advance Collegiate
Schools of Business (AACSB — International). Fewer than 20
percent of U.S. and Canadian schools of business have earned this
accreditation.
Leveraging St. John’s metropolitan location, students have
access to the University’s longstanding relationships with leading
New York-area financial and insurance organizations as well as to
desirable paid internships and mentoring support from local alumni
— who are leading professionals in the field of risk
management.
