Who Should Apply?

This is the oldest one (circa 1971) among the programs offered by the School of Risk Management. Many of its graduates are leading the risk management and insurance industry or working in the public sector in countries around the world. This program is probably one of a kind in the United States in that students study only Risk Management and Insurance courses and can complete it in two semesters.

Those who may consider this program include:

  • Insurance company employees who need to develop extensive knowledge in risk management and insurance (many of the graduates in fact having been sent by their employers for training purposes);
  • Graduates with another degree who wish to generate academic knowledge as preparation to enter the risk management and insurance industry; or
  • Undergraduate students (juniors) or graduate students in other universities who currently major in risk management, insurance or actuarial science and wish to spend a year in the United States and earn a certificate in this field (in addition to their undergraduate degree).
