The Writing Center is one of three
components of the Institute for Writing Studies (along with the
First-Year Writing and Writing Across the Curriculum programs).
The Writing Center provides a place where you can discuss your
writing with trained consultants. It is a service for all members
of the STJ community, from undergraduate to graduate, ESL to
honors, international students to faculty members.
In addition to providing one-on-one consultations with students,
the Writing Center sponsors readings and presentations by students
and faculty, as well as faculty conversations about writing
pedagogy and research methods. In sum, the Writing Center exists to
help foster a writing culture within the University.
The Institute for Writing Studies also
provides support for graduate students writing dissertations,
taking exams, or those simply seeking a network and community of
their peers. The Writing Center has live online tutoring and
e-tutoring services for those students who cannot be present in the
Center during normal operating hours.
