Students Can Apply Now For St. John’s 2007 Visit to Kokushikan University in Japan

Students at St. John’s can experience the glory of Japanese life, language and culture this January as visiting students at Kokushikan University, a leading private university in Tokyo.

All interested students can apply now for this intensive immersion in Japanese culture, scheduled for January 2007. Students will learn basic Japanese, share views with Kokushikan’s students and professors, tour historic Japanese sites and visit neighborhoods throughout Tokyo.

An Extraordinary Opportunity
Students can take advantage of this unique opportunity thanks to St. John’s long-standing relationship with Kokushikan University.

The visit will serve as a “cultural immersion” focusing on Japanese language, customs and history, according to Dr. Wayne F. James, Executive Director of International and Graduate Enrollment at St. John’s. Dr. James coordinates the program.

St. John’s students first visited Kokushikan University in January, 2006. Their varied experiences included visits to the Great Buddha and various temples, walking tours through Tokyo’s trendiest neighborhoods and even the opportunity to dress in traditional Japanese garb.
