Admission FAQ

I attended St. John's ten years ago, I would like to return. What is the process I would have to go through?
The form that you would fill out is called a re-admit form. Student must also supply us with a written statement of activity.

I'm a new applicant. How can I be considered for a scholarship?
All students' applications are screened for Academic scholarships. If a student's application meets the requirements for an Academic scholarship, it is then given to the Admissions Committee for review. To be considered for Financial Aid, a student must submit a completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).

What is a coding sheet? How do I get one?
A coding sheet is a form that is sent to an accepted student. It is regarding information about the ethnic background of the student population. The request of this information has been directed by the New York State Department of Education. The university asks that the student complete this form to assist the University in completing various governmental reports.

What advantage is there for applying to St. John's over the web for an undergraduate program?
The advantage is that $50.00 application fee is waived (and it’s better for the Environment!).

Does St. John’s offer an Early Admissions Program?                                                                    Yes. It is a program designed to provide an opportunity for qualified students who have completed their junior year of high school to enroll in the University and concurrently complete their freshmen year of college and satisfy the requirements as stated by the high school. The high school must recommend the student and confirm that the high school diploma will be awarded after successful completion of the stated requirements. The student is eligible for financial aid and scholarships.

Does St. John's accept the Common Application?
No.

I never took my SAT's in high school. I have been out of school for more than a year. Is it still required for admittance?
Students that have been out of High School for a year or more and has not taken the SAT/ACT must take a Placement exam offered through the University.

I am an incoming freshman and have decided on a different program to major in. What steps do I have to take in order to change it?
If a student wishes to change their major prior to enrolling into St. John’s University, the student must submit a letter to the office of Admissions with the new program that you wish to major in. An admissions counselor would have to review your admission's application before granting the change of major. Once enrolled in St. John’s University, a student must work with their assigned Academic Advisor to change their major
