On Thursday, November 12, 2009 many of St. John's University's
most recent graduates gathered at Legends in New York City for "A
Toast to Fall", the most recent event in the popular Young Alumni
Happy Hour monthly series. Legends is conveniently located in
the Penn Station area of Manhattan, making it readily accessible to
alumni from New York City and the surrounding suburbs.
Alumni enjoyed the friendly attention of the Legends staff, who
provided a private party room complete with complimentary
appetizers, a discounted food menu and non-stop music.
"This is the 9th consecutive Happy Hour we have hosted in our Young
Alumni Happy Hour series, and once again it was a great success,"
said Elisa Douglas '05C, Assistant Director, Student and Young
Alumni Engagement, Office of Alumni Relations. "We are going
to continue to offer young alumni a venue to stay connected to alma
mater. After the new year we will also be launching our Young
Alumni Seasonal Socials series."
The happy and enthusiastic group included recent graduates from
both the Queens and Staten Island campuses, as well as
representatives from the Black Alumni Association.
Guests were quick to acknowledge the value of events such as this,
where young alumni can gather to share memories, make new friends
and network with their fellow graduates on a personal and
professional level.
"The Young Alumni Happy Hours never fail to provide memorable
moments with good friends and familiar faces," said Jeffrey
Dessources '04C, '06G, a member of the Black Alumni
Association.
Jason Drago '04TCB agreed, noting that "It's great to have the
opportunity to spend time catching up with so many of the people
that I shared my college experience with, and to make new friends
with other alumni."
The next Young Alumni Happy Hour, dubbed "Hip Hop Holiday", will be
held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Manhattan's famous 40/40
Club from 6 – 8 p.m. This event will be a great way to usher
out the year while enjoying drink specials and complimentary
appetizers with other recent St. John's graduates.
