Richard R. Bonadio '59CBA was inducted into the Heritage Circle
of St. John’s University at the 28th Annual Alumni Convocation on
Friday, May 29, 2009.
He received his B.B.A. from St. John’s University’s School of
Commerce in 1959. After graduation he accepted a position at
the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, now
known as A.X.A. Equitable, and remained with the company for the
entirety of his professional career. His association
with Equitable continues to this very day, and he remains licensed
as a Registered Representative and holds the title of Agency
Manager Emeritus.
His business skills earned him numerous awards, including
membership in the Equitable Order of Excalibur and induction into
the Equitable Hall of Fame. In addition, he has been honored
with membership in the Million Dollar Round Table by the National
Association of Life Underwriters.
A California resident, Richard R. Bonadio has served on the
Boards of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, the Alzheimer Association
of Orange County and the Riverside Deputy Sheriff’s
Department. He has also been Chairman of the Building Fund of
Our Lady of Angels Roman Catholic Church and has worked with the
Sisters of St. Joseph to assist former Chicano gang members in
Orange County.
Mr. Bonadio has remained close to alma mater as a
longtime member of The Loughlin Society. “I’m so glad that
I’m getting this award,” he said happily. “I haven’t been
here since 1969, and coming through this campus tonight was
absolutely incredible. I’ve been devoted to St. John’s since
I graduated and I will be forever.”
Induction into the Heritage Circle is reserved for alumni who
have graduated 40 or more years ago and have maintained a close
association with the University in a unique and extraordinary
way.
