Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Brennan '84C was awarded the Pietas Medal
of St. John’s University at the 28th Annual Alumni Convocation on
Friday, May 29, 2009.
He received his B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science
summa cum laude from St. John’s College of Liberal Arts
and Sciences in 1984.
He was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Rockville
Centre in 1989. Five years later, he was appointed
Secretary to the Bishop of Rockville Centre, and was subsequently
named an honorary prelate to His Holiness Pope John Paul II and
honored with the title of Monsignor.
Msgr. Brennan currently serves as Vicar General and Moderator of
the Curia of the Diocese of Rockville Centre.
“It’s a great honor to get this award because of everything that
St. John’s means to me,” said Msgr. Brennan. “It’s very nice
to be recognized by the University and be a part of this great
legacy.”
The Pietas Medal is a singular honor reserved for alumni who
have demonstrated loyalty, fidelity and devotion to alma
mater in a multitude of ways.
