Heritage Circle

Joseph Gerard Meighan

A double alumnus of St. John’s University, Joseph Gerard Meighan received his B.B.A. in 1960 and his M.B.A. in 1967, both from the College of Business Administration, now the Tobin College of Business. He entered the business world as Manager of the Market Research and Planning LBP Division of International Paper Company and also worked  as a Management Consultant at Drake Sheahan/Stewart Dougall. In 1971, he was named Vice President of Marketing at Gilman Paper Company, where he served for three decades until his retirement in 2001. He is a Past President of the Paper Shipping Sack Manufacturers Association, a national trade association of United States producers of multiwall shipping sacks. He has demonstrated an exemplary commitment to community service and philanthropy through his participation in the Circle of Stewards of the Archdiocese of Newark and the Benefactors’ Circle of St. John’s Prep and through his membership in the American Legion. He has demonstrated his loyal support of alma mater as a member of The Loughlin Society. Tonight, in celebration of his stellar business career, his commitment to community service and in recognition of the 50th anniversary of his undergraduate graduation, St. John’s University is pleased to induct Joseph Gerard Meighan into the Heritage Circle.
