Barbara Ellen Black, D.P.S.

Barbara Ellen Black received her M.A. in History from St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1962. She is currently Executive Director of the Lower Hudson Valley Catholic College and University Consortium, an organization of nine Catholic institutions, including St. John’s, that are committed to programs that strengthen their Catholic identity and promote greater academic, cultural and leadership opportunities for students.  A lifelong senior administrator at institutions including Georgian Court University, Fordham University, Dowling College, Molloy College and Hunter College, she is the author of numerous papers and publications on topics related to higher education. She is a member of the Board of The Partnership for Global Justice, a non-governmental organization with an active voice in the United Nations. Tonight, in celebration of her outstanding commitment to higher education and on the 50th anniversary of her graduation, St. John’s University proudly presents the Pietas Medal to Barbara Ellen Black.
