Induction into the
Heritage Circle
of
John P. McConville
John P. McConville received his J.D. from St. John’s School of
Law in 1962. Following graduation he entered the legal profession
as an Associate at the firm of Kirlin, Campbell and Keating. After
three years he moved into the corporate world at Bethlehem Steel
Corporation, where he held various executive positions that
ultimately included his appointment as Vice President, Maritime. He
later joined the staff of Sea-Land Service, Inc., serving in
numerous legal capacities including Associate General Counsel.
Combining an appreciation for the value of community service with a
willingness to share his impressive legal experience and talent,
for the past ten years he has been the Local Coordinator in
Charlotte, NC for the Tax Aide Program of the American Association
of Retired Persons. He has been a Retired Commander in the United
States Naval Reserve for more than 20 years, and in 2002 was
presented with the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award by
the United States Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Foundation. He has
demonstrated his loyal support of the University by membership in
The Loughlin Society and service as Chairperson of the St. John’s
University Jubilarian Society Dinner for the School of Law Class of
1962. Tonight, in celebration of his stellar legal career, his
commitment to St. John’s School of Law and in recognition of the
50th anniversary of his graduation, St. John’s University is
pleased to induct John P. McConville into the Heritage Circle.
