Senior Vice President and Chief of
Staff, Office of the President
Robert Wile began his career at St. John’s University in 1999 and
currently serves as Senior Vice President and Chief of Staff, a
position which affords him oversight responsibility for all
Development and Alumni Relations activities at the University,
managing a Division comprised of 85 professionals. In 2006
and 2007 he served as Acting Vice President for Institutional
Advancement. Robert also serves as Chief of Staff to the
President, a position he has held since 2004. As Chief of
Staff, he manages the offices of Athletics, Community Relations,
Corporate Relations and Foundations, Government Relations, Media
Relations and University Events. He also functions as the
principal liaison between the President and all constituencies and
provides oversight for the Office of the President and the other
executive offices of the University.
Robert has traveled extensively, organizing and participating in
meetings and events with dignitaries such as the King of Thailand,
Bhumibol Adulyadej, the former Prime Minister of Italy, Silvio
Berlusconi, the former President of the Republic of Italy, Carlo
Ciampi, the President of the Republic of Ireland, Mary McAleese and
the President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak. He currently
serves as a member of the Board of Directors for St. John’s Bread
and Life; a soup kitchen and family health services organization in
Brooklyn, New York, and as an advisor to the Next Generation
Foundation. He is a 1999 graduate of St. John’s
University, which he attended with the assistance of an athletic
scholarship for soccer. During his sophomore year he was a
member of the first NCAA national soccer championship team in
University history. Robert, his wife Gabrielle and son Jackson
reside in Haworth, New Jersey.
