Eligibility
All seniors and all graduate students, including School of Law and
excluding the St. John's College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences,
with a 3.0 GPA or above. All students who meet this eligibility and
have attended a previous AIV program will be given highest
priority.
Selection
Student selection is coordinated by the St. John’s University
Office of Alumni Relations with input from the academic deans of
the University. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply.
Requirements include completion of the application, submission of a
personal statement and an interview by a staff member of the Office
of Alumni Relations. Upon acceptance into the program, a $50 fee
will be required of all participants to assist with transportation
and overnight accommodations.
Scholarship Opportunity
Up to six student participants of the program are awarded
scholarships each year in memory of two distinguished St. John’s
University alumni Congressman Joseph P. Addabbo ’46L, ’84HON and
Arthur B. Carton ’25C, ’29L. To apply for scholarship consideration
students are required to submit an additional essay as indicated on
the scholarship application form. Essay topics, review of essays
and selection of scholarship recipients are determined by the
Washington, DC Alumni Chapter Program Committee. Scholarships are
awarded based upon the availability of funds specifically
designated for these scholarships. The deadline to submit your
scholarship essay is Friday, October 5, 2012. The Office of
Financial Aid will verify if you are eligible for financial
assistance.
Program
The program runs from Wednesday, October 17 through Friday, October
19, 2012. More details to follow upon acceptance into the
program.
Transportation
Bus transportation to and from the Queens campus is provided. The
trip allows student participants ample time to become acquainted
with one another and ensures that everyone is arriving at the same
time.
Housing
Overnight accommodations are provided for Wednesday and Thursday
evenings. Room assignments will be determined by student request
(only same gender rooms are available). Students will select their
roommates at the mandatory orientation session in early
October.

Chapters
With over 1,900 members, the St. John’s University Washington, DC
Alumni Chapter is the largest chapter outside the New York
metropolitan area. The current lead chapter coordinator is Laura
Cranston, R.Ph. ’84P, Executive Director, Pharmacy Quality
Alliance, Inc. and a member of the St. John’s University Board of
Governors.
