The competition among U.S. colleges and universities remains
intense, but thanks to the commitment and generous donations of our
alumni and friends, we have been able to retain our top-rated
faculty and programs as well as appeal to a more diverse population
of prospective students.
Since this highly-successful campaign began in 1999, the:
- Average combined SAT scores for standard admitted students has
risen from 982 to 1097
- Median LSAT score for students entering the School of Law rose
to 160
- Percentage of students enrolling at the University increased by
19%
- University received the third-most applications in New York,
behind only Cornell and NYU
- University established over 80 new endowed scholarships and
chairs
In addition, the University has continued to develop new
initiatives and programs to provide our students with the
opportunities they deserve, as well as receive recognition for our
sustained growth, including:
- Being named to Princeton Review’s “Best Colleges in the
Northeast” and The Best 357 Colleges
- Establishing a new doctorate degree in Audiology in consortium
with Adelphi and Hofstra universities
- St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences launched the Institute of
Biotechnology to establish mutually-beneficial partnerships between
University science faculty and biotechnology industry leaders
- School of Law and The School of Education ranked in U.S. News
and World Report’s Top 100 for three consecutive years
- The School of Education implemented Project SMILE (Student
Multimedia Internet Learning Exchange) for graduate students to
show public school teachers how to incorporate technology into
their curricula
- College of Professional Studies created a new Bachelor of
Science degree program in Advertising Communication
- College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences established
the Urban Pharmaceutical Care Research and Education Institute to
create post-Pharm.D. residency programs that focus on providing
pharmaceutical care for the urban poor.
- The Peter J. Tobin College of Business established the Student
Managed Investment Fund to give students hands-on experience at
conducting investment research, investing money and managing a
portfolio prior to entering the work force
- School of Law opened the Securities Arbitration Clinic at the
Manhattan campus; clinic students provide representation to
underserved small New York investors in arbitrations before the
National Association of Securities Dealers and the New York Stock
Exchange
