As part of the
ongoing beautification of the Queens campus, a sparkling fountain
has been installed in an area designed to serve as a welcoming
focal point for members of the University community strolling
between the upper and lower campuses. The fountain measures 18 feet
in diameter, with exterior walls constructed of Granite Stone
Veneer over concrete block. The interior features contrasting grey
and pink granite cobblestones designed to create decorative shell
inserts.
The location was selected to be on an axis with a new set of
sweeping stairs connecting the upper and lower campuses, adding to
the beauty of the recently refurbished main corridor centered on
the illuminated tower of the D’Angelo Center.
