Alumni Return for Homecoming Weekend

October 29, 2007

Inclement weather didn’t prevent alumni, students, friends and members of the surrounding community from returning to St. John’s University’s Queens campus to celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend 2007 on October 27.

Events which included a concert, pep rally tailgate, Men’s Soccer game against DePaul University and live step show, encouraged participation from the many groups who comprise the St. John’s family.  “I had a really great time,” commented alumna Amelia Barbagallo ’06TCB, who was active at St. John’s during her student days.

The family-friendly carnival, held in the Taffner Field House, boasted a cotton candy station, face painting, an inflatable slide, and a clown.  The rain lifted as the day progressed and families were able to spend time together celebrating their connection to the University.

The pep rally, held in the University Center, served to bolster St. John’s spirit before the men’s soccer game.  And alumni enjoyed a pre-game tailgate with hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches as they prepared to cheer on the Red Storm in their game against DePaul University on Saturday night.

This year’s Homecoming offered fun and a chance to reconnect with St. John’s for alumni who attended.  “It is really great being an alumna and still getting to attend events [like Homecoming],” shared Rita Case ’05Pharm.D.
