Week Sixteen

Over the weekend, St. John’s students went on a paddy wagon trip which was outstanding, possibly the highlight of my entire trip. The paddy wagon trip consisted of a three-day trip across southwestern Ireland where we visited cities like Galway and Kerry and got to see other sites like the Cliffs of Mohor. This had to have been the greatest experience of my life, and I’m happy that I decided to go on the tour. It is most definitely something I would recommend to others.

Sadly, I must say goodbye to this city and to Europe itself. Tonight is my last night in Europe and I will soon be on my way back to the United States. This has been an amazing experience for me. The days I’ve spent abroad will be in my memories forever, especially Dublin, because the greatest part of my trip was coming to this city. Out of all three cities Dublin, without a doubt, has been the best because of the people. Dublin has what every other city lacked, which was the chance for me to integrate into the culture of the people. The Irish students were more than welcoming to us, and I can easily say that everyone I was abroad with in this city has become like a second family to me. We have laughed, we have cried and we have simply enjoyed our time together.

I’d like to offer special thanks to Ann Martin, the Director of the Discover the World Dublin program. She has been like a mother to us, has watched over us and made sure we did not get into any trouble. She constantly set up events for us, such as the paddy wagon trip and traditional Irish dancing events, so that we could learn more about the Irish culture. She made this trip a thousand times better, not only for me but for everyone in the Dublin program.

With my time in Europe now coming to a close, all I can do now is recommend this program to anyone who wishes to take it because Discover the World has been an amazing experience that has changed my life forever!
