There was a bevy of activities for students during the week and
on October 11, 2008 an Italian Feast was held where alumni
enjoyed tasty treats including sausage and pepper heroes, calzones
and Italian pastries. A performance by St. John’s Dance Team and
Pep Band added to the festive atmosphere of the event.
After the feast, many alumni continued on to cheer the Red Storm
Men's Soccer team as they played Villanova in Belson Stadium on the
Queens campus. Other attendees opted to enjoy the fun and games of
Casino Night casino tables were set up in Marillac Hall. Nick Zamy
’03C thoroughly enjoyed venturing to alma mater for the day.
"Participating in Homecoming is like having a barbecue at my own
house, because I feel like I have returned back home,” he said.
Wanda Rowe-Johnson ’81SVC, ’06GEd agreed. "This is my first
homecoming and everything is fabulous,” she said.
At the Staten Island campus, a Mass was held followed by a
Family Welcome and Lunch. Crowds converged on the Great Lawn where
there were multiple activities including face painting, cookie
stations, kid’s games, ice cream and a Zeppoli Truck.
