A group of St. John’s University alumni and friends from Nassau
County met at the Walk Street Tavern in New Hyde Park, NY for a few
rounds of drinks and to watch the Red Storm play against Villanova
University on Sunday, January 18.

The snow fall and cold weather outdoors did not dampen the
school spirit of the attendees who gathered in a private room at
the tavern to enthusiastically watch the game on a big screen
television.
Alumni were delighted to spend a Sunday afternoon with each
other and remarked about the enjoyable atmosphere. “It is
great that alumni from this area would get together and support the
team,” said Patrick McGuire ’84C. “This was a great venue to
reconnect with alumni and I hope we do more [events like this] in
the future.”
Bill Lipson, Assistant Director, Alumni Relations was impressed
with the loyalty of these alumni who came to root for their
favorite team despite the bad weather. “This gamewatch was a
lot of fun and would not have been possible without the help and
dedication of our alumni,” he said. “The alumni in Nassau
County initiated this and they pulled off a great event. There will
certainly be more activities in Nassau County in the future.”
