Warmth and fond memories were very much a part of the
festivities at a St. John’s University alumni pre-game reception
held on the campus of Villanova University on Sunday, January
18.

More than 45 alumni and friends, many of whom were from the
Philadelphia area and others who traveled from New York and New
Jersey to cheer for the Red Storm, enjoyed a hot breakfast and
reminisced about college days together.
Updates about construction projects and the men’s basketball
program at the University, given by Andrea Papa '88SVC, Associate
Director of Regional Programs for the Office of Alumni Relations
and Chris Monasch '81SVC, Director of Athletics, were well
received. “Being at the St. John’s/Villanova game this
weekend was especially moving for me,” shared Chrysa Smith
'82CBA. “Not only did it bring me back some 25 years but to
the very real present day events happening at the university, and
my own reconnection with university life…The growth at STJ is
phenomenal!”
All told, the reception was a success and attendees had a good
time. Joe Bova '51C, who was pleased with the days events,
noted, “It was good to be among St. John’s folks.”
