On Friday, October 23, 2009, 45 alumni gathered in the Kiernan
Suite of the Kelleher Center on the Staten Island campus for the
inaugural Fall Classic Cocktail Reception.

A candlelit setting of music and smiles set the tone for the
evening as alumni mingled and reminisced over cocktails and hors
d’eouvres. Sponsored by the Staten Island Alumni Association
(SIAA) and the Office of Institutional Advancement, the reception
encouraged the guests to engage in a bit of nostalgia while sharing
fond memories of their days on campus.
“Our alumni are an important part of helping us plan these events,”
said Nicholas A. Legakis ’97SVC, ’07MPS Director, Institutional
Advancement, Staten Island campus. “Tonight’s event, along
with our Alumni Reunion Barbeque and Family Fun Fair in May, will
be great signature events for our alumni to gather and
reconnect.”
Guests were grateful for the opportunity to return to the campus
that was home to them during their student days, and looked forward
to attending similar programs and receptions in the future. “This
was an opportunity for our alumni to reconnect with an event right
here on campus,” said Larry Durso ’75NDC President, Staten Island
Alumni Association and a personal co-sponsor of the reception. “I
hope we can grow this event for years to come.”
For Adrienne DiLorenzo ’05CPS the chance to get back in touch
with other alumni was one of the nicest aspects of the reception.
“Having the opportunity to connect with fellow alumni really
brought back such great memories,” she said. “I look forward
to future events where I can continue to connect with friends from
St. John’s.”
The passage of time did nothing to diminish that affiliation for
the University that has meant so much to so many. “A quarter
of a century has passed since my graduation,” reflected Robert
Ribaudo ’84CPS. “Tonight is acting as the 25th anniversary of
my alumni status – my silver anniversary with St. John’s
University.”
“Four years go by so fast and you want to make the most out of it.
They really made me feel like a star here,” noted John Carl Ziegler
’08CPS.
All alumni from the Staten Island campus are invited to attend
future SIAA meetings, which take place at 7:30 p.m. on the third
Thursday of every month. For additional information or to
