May 18, 2010

On Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16, 2010 representatives from the Office of Alumni Relations welcomed the members of the Class of 2010 to the ranks of the alumni following commencement ceremonies on the Staten Island and Queens campuses.  The happy graduates and their families were congratulated on this significant milestone by OAR staff members who distributed St. John’s University alumni t-shirts, bottled water and copies of the most recent St. John’s University Magazine.

“The addition of these new graduates swells the ranks of St. John’s living alumni to approximately 160,000, 82% of whom reside within the greater New York metropolitan area,” noted William G. Schaeffer ’73CBA, Director, Office of Alumni Relations.

The University’s newest alumni were proud of what they and their fellow graduates had accomplished and were effusive in their praise for what has now become their alma mater. “I’m a Pharmacy major graduating after six years,” said Stephanie Epstein ’10P. “I feel great. It’s a huge milestone and I am really proud of myself and my class. I’m happy that I chose a Catholic university. I went to a Catholic high school, so it was a great way for me to further my education and remain in a Catholic institution.”

“I’m so proud of all my friends who’ve graduated with me and I’m ecstatic that my family is here,” agreed Katrina Curato ’10C. “I am now a proud alumna of St. John’s and I will be coming back next year for my Master’s in Experimental Psychology.”

Having officially received their degrees, these young men and women can now look forward to participating in a variety of interesting and exciting alumni activities, including many specifically designed to meet the unique needs and interests of the University’s most recent graduates.
