Alumni from our historic Lewis Avenue and Schermerhorn Street
campuses attended a special Brooklyn Day reception prior to the
men’s basketball team’s final home game of the season on March 5.
These cherished graduates were able to socialize, reminisce and
spend time with two of the University’s most famous Brooklyn
alumni: former Head Baseball Coach John W. “Jack” Kaiser ’49C and
former Head Men’s Basketball Coach Lou Carnesecca ’50C, ’60GEd,
’00HON.

Alumni loved meeting these distinguished
graduates.
“Seeing Lou Carnesecca was amazing,” said
Karen Madden ’68UC. “He was surrounded by students and alumni with
their kids for photo ops. He looked like a rock star!”
Other graduates enjoyed reconnecting with
former classmates.
“Having the old gang around brings you back
40 years in a flash,” said Thomas Joyce ’73CBA, ’74MBA. “It was
great getting together with alumni that had the same Brooklyn
experience as I did.”
Afterwards, the alumni attended the Red
Storm’s 72-56 victory over the University of South Florida
Bulls.
“Seeing the Red Storm win their last home
game of the season was a real thrill,” Madden said. “The enthusiasm
of both the students and alumni reinforced that the St. John’s
spirit is alive and well.”
