Student Government Association
(SGA)
The Student Government Association is the representative body of
all students, both undergraduate and graduate, part-or full-time.
It meets regularly to discuss issues and affairs of the students
and the campus. Any matriculated student in good academic and
social standing may run for election as an Executive Board officer
or Program Representative, as outlined by the SGA Constitution. SGA
meetings are open to all students.
Academic Affairs Commission
The Academic Affairs Commission of SGA organizes and
presents the concerns of students with regard to academic issues.
The Commission addresses academic program concerns and serves as a
liaison to faculty and the Peter J. Tobin College of Business.
Student Activities Commission
(SAC)
As a part of SGA, the Student Activities Commission plans and
organizes social and special event functions held at the campus,
including lectures, film nights, theater parties, picnics, live
performances, Dance Parties, Bands and Stand-up Comedians, as well
as off-campus trips.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee of the Student Government is chaired by the
Vice President for Finance. Class representatives serve as
committee members. All student clubs and Organizations of the
campus must be recognized by the SGA as having an established
membership, and an updated constitution on file to apply for
funding through SGA.
Commuter Forum
The Commuter Forum is comprised of day and evening students and
serves to address issues and concerns of commuting students. It
also plans programs designed to address the needs and interests of
this population. The Commuter Forum publishes a monthly newsletter,
"On the Move", with current information and events relevant to
commuters.
Gamma Iota Sigma
The Alpha Iota Chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma, National Collegiate
Insurance Fraternity, is located at the College. Its membership is
open to all students interested in insurance as a career. The
fraternity sponsors industry lectures, national symposiums,
corporate field trips, and participation in regional and national
fraternity conferences. The fraternity is dedicated to providing a
link between the insurance industry and students on college
campuses nationwide.
The Mentor (Student
Newspaper)
The Mentor, the campus student newspaper, has been published in
various forms (newspaper, newsletter, semesterly forum) since 1962.
It serves as a means of general communication to all members of the
campus community. All students are encouraged to submit articles,
commentary, letters, humor, and illustrations to the Office of
Student Life. Students interested in publishing a student newspaper
should contact the Student Government Association.
Organization of Resident Students
(ORS)
This organization is comprised of students who assist in developing
programs and activities for the students residing at the campus.
ORS voices the concerns of residents and strives to create a sense
of community for those living at the College.
