AKD is an international sociological honor society first established in 1920 “to investigate humanity for the purpose of service”. It represents the first letters of three Greek words: Anthropon — mankind Katamanthaneion — to investigate thoroughly or to conduct research Diakonesein — for the purpose of service We work to spread awareness, broaden perspectives, and encourage people to think critically about issues that affect different groups of people residing in the United States and around the world with sociological reasoning.
